Question your thinking, change your world

Bringing Inquiry to Every Student, Everywhere

Who We Are

The Thinking Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit grounded in Inquiry-Based Stress Reduction (IBSR). Our mission is to bring Inquiry to every student, everywhere. We support teachers in using IBSR to explore their own thoughts during difficult moments when they feel unsure of how to respond. This self-inquiry process can help teachers uncover their own clarity, creativity, and insight, even in the most challenging situations.

We also craft IBSR-based thinking frameworks, resources, and programming to support educators with the challenges they face in their classrooms.

Self-Inquiry in Advisory Class

The "With and Without a Thought Framework" helps students explore what's different when they have a thought versus when they don’t.

The "ACT Triangle Framework" helps students exploring how actions, context, and thoughts are interconnected.

Frameworks and Resources That Evolve With You

Our frameworks and resources are forged from real classroom experiences and grow through feedback from educators and students. They’re flexible, adaptable, and designed to support what you’re already teaching—not add extra work.

From quick warm-ups to group activities to deeper discussions, you can use these tools to help you and your students reflect on how thoughts shape your lives, relationships, and the world—whether in history, literature, or other topics you’re exploring.

A Collaborative Approach

Everything we offer is informed by the experiences and feedback of educators and students. Through conversations, feedback, and piloting, we learn what works and what doesn’t, helping us craft practical tools that teachers value, adapt, and are excited to use in their classrooms.

We embrace the thought, “We’re figuring this out alongside you,” which can lead to deeply collaborative relationships with educators. These relationships help us learn how teachers want to bring IBSR and IBSR skills into their lives and classrooms.

Teachers We Collaborate With Sharing Creative Ideas

Our resources and tools are based in Inquiry-Based Stress Reduction (IBSR), a research-based method for reducing stress.
